Apr\u00e8s avoir obtenu une bourse de recherche en 2023 \u00e0 l&#039;Universit\u00e9 McGill, au sein de la division de gastroent\u00e9rologie et d&#039;h\u00e9patologie, mes travaux se sont concentr\u00e9s sur les maladies chroniques du foie, en particulier la st\u00e9atosie h\u00e9patique associ\u00e9e \u00e0 un dysfonctionnement m\u00e9tabolique (SHA) chez les populations vuln\u00e9rables, notamment les personnes vivant avec le VIH. Je suis \u00e9galement profond\u00e9ment engag\u00e9 en faveur de soins centr\u00e9s sur le patient et de la promotion de l&#039;\u00e9quit\u00e9, de la diversit\u00e9 et de l&#039;inclusion en h\u00e9patologie. En tant que d\u00e9fenseur de la repr\u00e9sentation LGBTQIA+ en m\u00e9decine et en recherche, je m&#039;efforce de garantir que les initiatives en mati\u00e8re de sant\u00e9 h\u00e9patique r\u00e9pondent aux besoins sp\u00e9cifiques des communaut\u00e9s minoritaires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En collaboration avec l&#039;ACEF et le groupe de travail LGBTQ+ de l&#039;AASLD, dirig\u00e9 par le Dr Howard Lee, nous menons une \u00e9tude exploratoire sur les maladies h\u00e9patiques chroniques au sein des populations de diverses identit\u00e9s de genre et de minorit\u00e9s sexuelles. Les personnes LGBTQIA+ sont touch\u00e9es de mani\u00e8re disproportionn\u00e9e par des facteurs de risque uniques et crois\u00e9s de maladies h\u00e9patiques, notamment des taux plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s d&#039;h\u00e9patite virale, une h\u00e9patotoxicit\u00e9 li\u00e9e aux hormones et aux substances, et une charge accrue de troubles m\u00e9taboliques due aux in\u00e9galit\u00e9s sociales et structurelles. Pourtant, malgr\u00e9 ces risques accrus, l&#039;\u00e9pid\u00e9miologie, les besoins cliniques et l&#039;acc\u00e8s aux soins h\u00e9patiques pour ces populations restent mal caract\u00e9ris\u00e9s et souvent n\u00e9glig\u00e9s dans la recherche et les recommandations cliniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette \u00e9tude exploratoire servira de base \u00e0 un prochain expos\u00e9 de position de l&#039;ACEF sur les maladies chroniques du foie chez les populations de diverses identit\u00e9s de genre et de minorit\u00e9s sexuelles. Son objectif est non seulement de synth\u00e9tiser les donn\u00e9es probantes existantes, mais aussi de sensibiliser, de r\u00e9duire la stigmatisation et de promouvoir une recherche, une pratique clinique et une \u00e9laboration de politiques inclusives. \u00c0 terme, nous souhaitons faire progresser l&#039;\u00e9quit\u00e9 en mati\u00e8re de sant\u00e9 h\u00e9patique pour les populations minoritaires et garantir que les personnes de diverses identit\u00e9s de genre et de minorit\u00e9s sexuelles soient pleinement reconnues et prises en charge dans le cadre des soins h\u00e9patologiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Featuring our CASL LGBT+ trainee representative exciting work!
