Mes int\u00e9r\u00eats de recherche portent sur l\u2019\u00e9tude de la maladie h\u00e9patique st\u00e9atosique associ\u00e9e \u00e0 un dysfonctionnement m\u00e9tabolique (MASLD), la maladie h\u00e9patique la plus r\u00e9pandue dans le monde. \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que la mortalit\u00e9 due \u00e0 la MASLD est consid\u00e9rablement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e chez les personnes vivant avec le VIH (PVVIH) que dans la population g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, j\u2019ai cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 mieux comprendre les m\u00e9canismes par lesquels la MASLD contribue \u00e0 la mortalit\u00e9 non li\u00e9e au sida. J\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 ma carri\u00e8re de chercheur en \u00e9tudiant les complications h\u00e9patiques du VIH. Ce faisant, j\u2019ai travaill\u00e9 \u00e0 la conservation et \u00e0 l\u2019analyse des donn\u00e9es de la cohorte LIVEr Disease in HIV (LIVEHIV), la plus grande cohorte prospective canadienne de PVVIH. Cela a donn\u00e9 lieu \u00e0 de nombreux projets de recherche allant de l\u2019\u00e9tude des diff\u00e9rences entre les sexes dans l\u2019incidence et la gravit\u00e9 de la MASLD \u00e0 l\u2019utilisation de biomarqueurs non invasifs pour pr\u00e9dire la fibrose h\u00e9patique dans ce groupe \u00e0 haut risque et \u00e0 l\u2019impact de divers antir\u00e9troviraux sur la progression de la st\u00e9atose h\u00e9patique. \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 le fardeau croissant de la MASLD chez les patients atteints de maladies inflammatoires chroniques de l\u2019intestin (MICI), j\u2019ai ax\u00e9 mes recherches sur l\u2019\u00e9tude des complications cardiom\u00e9taboliques de la MASLD dans les MICI. Ici, mon travail a mis en \u00e9vidence comment le MASLD pr\u00e9dispose les patients atteints de MII \u00e0 un risque cardiovasculaire accru, \u00e0 des comorbidit\u00e9s extra-h\u00e9patiques et \u00e0 une hospitalisation toutes causes confondues.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce qui me passionne le plus dans l\u2019h\u00e9patologie, c\u2019est qu\u2019il s\u2019agit d\u2019un domaine en constante \u00e9volution, comme en t\u00e9moigne la nouvelle nomenclature MASLD mise en \u0153uvre en 2023. Je suis \u00e9galement intrigu\u00e9 par la complexit\u00e9 des facteurs qui influencent le d\u00e9veloppement et l\u2019\u00e9valuation de la MASLD et de l\u2019ACLD, ainsi que par l\u2019intersection entre la science et l\u2019\u00e9quit\u00e9 en sant\u00e9. Au-del\u00e0 des maladies du foie, la MASLD appara\u00eet \u00e9galement comme une maladie multisyst\u00e9mique affectant les organes extra-h\u00e9patiques et un facteur de risque de mortalit\u00e9 toutes causes confondues. Elle contribue \u00e9galement aux mauvais r\u00e9sultats rapport\u00e9s par les patients en raison de son impact sur la qualit\u00e9 de vie li\u00e9e \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 et affecte de mani\u00e8re disproportionn\u00e9e les patients issus de milieux \u00e0 risque, notamment les personnes vivant avec le VIH et les MII.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je suis ravi de recevoir ce prix de l'AASLD<\/a>. En tant que participant \u00e0 la Programme de recherche sur le foie pour les jeunes chercheurs<\/a>, Je suis ravi d\u2019approfondir mes connaissances et mes comp\u00e9tences cliniques tout en me connectant avec des experts de premier plan et d\u2019autres stagiaires en h\u00e9patologie. J\u2019ai h\u00e2te d\u2019acqu\u00e9rir des connaissances pr\u00e9cieuses gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des symposiums \u00e0 th\u00e8me unique et \u00e0 des groupes d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat sp\u00e9ciaux qui se concentrent sur les sujets \u00e9mergents en MASLD et en h\u00e9patologie de transplantation. Je suis convaincu que les connaissances que j\u2019acquerrai gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ce programme soutiendront ma poursuite d\u2019une carri\u00e8re universitaire, o\u00f9 j\u2019esp\u00e8re am\u00e9liorer la vie des personnes \u00e0 risque de maladie du foie.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
