L\u2019obtention de la chaire de professeur invit\u00e9 de la CASL\/CLF m\u2019a donn\u00e9 l\u2019occasion de voyager partout au Canada et de pr\u00e9senter mon programme de recherche. Je m\u2019int\u00e9resse particuli\u00e8rement \u00e0 d\u00e9chiffrer les voies physiopathologiques impliqu\u00e9es dans le d\u00e9veloppement des complications c\u00e9r\u00e9brales associ\u00e9es \u00e0 la maladie h\u00e9patique chronique : pourquoi le cerveau d\u00e9faille-t-il lorsque le foie tombe en panne? L\u2019objectif ultime est de d\u00e9velopper de nouvelles approches th\u00e9rapeutiques pour aider \u00e0 mettre en \u0153uvre une th\u00e9rapie de pr\u00e9cision et \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer la prise en charge des patients souffrant de complications c\u00e9r\u00e9brales avant et apr\u00e8s une transplantation h\u00e9patique.

En plus de rendre visite \u00e0 des coll\u00e8gues \u00e9tablis, le poste de professeur invit\u00e9 CASL\/CLF m'a \u00e9galement permis de rencontrer de nouvelles alliances et d'\u00e9largir ainsi mon r\u00e9seau de recherche \u00e0 travers le Canada. Je suis fier et ravi d'avoir pu visiter 11 villes diff\u00e9rentes et de pr\u00e9senter mes travaux \u00e0 l'universit\u00e9, \u00e0 l'h\u00f4pital, au centre hospitalier universitaire et\/ou \u00e0 l'\u00e9tablissement de recherche (voir la carte ci-dessous).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La recherche translationnelle \u00e9tant l\u2019objectif principal de mon programme de recherche, ma pr\u00e9sentation s\u2019adressait \u00e0 la fois aux chercheurs fondamentaux et aux cliniciens. En visitant 11 centres diff\u00e9rents, j\u2019ai pu me familiariser avec la recherche de qualit\u00e9 qui se d\u00e9roule partout au Canada et en prendre pleinement conscience. J\u2019ai \u00e9galement eu le plaisir d\u2019avoir d\u2019excellentes conversations avec des \u00e9tudiants, des r\u00e9sidents, des chercheurs, des cliniciens, des h\u00e9patologues, des chirurgiens et des neuropsychologues. Ce fut une exp\u00e9rience exceptionnelle. Chaque fois que je quittais une ville, j\u2019\u00e9tais plus instruite et mieux inform\u00e9e qu\u2019\u00e0 mon arriv\u00e9e.

Je suis tr\u00e8s honor\u00e9 d\u2019avoir re\u00e7u le prix de professeur CASL\/CLF et en plus d\u2019\u00eatre extr\u00eamement reconnaissant envers CASL et CLF, je suis \u00e9galement particuli\u00e8rement reconnaissant envers tous ceux qui, lors de mes visites, ont pris le temps d\u2019\u00e9couter ma conf\u00e9rence, de poser des questions stimulantes, de converser dans des dialogues scientifiques et envers ceux qui m\u2019ont accueilli (que ce soit pour le petit-d\u00e9jeuner, le d\u00e9jeuner, le d\u00eener ou le caf\u00e9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
